In 2013, Harvard Medical School researchers confirmed that red wine does provide anti-aging benefits thanks to resveratrol, a naturally occurring antioxidant found in certain plant products, including red grapes and cocoa. Resveratrol stimulates production of a serum that blocks diseases by speeding up healthy cell energy and regeneration.
So exactly what does this mean for us? Here are just a few of the health benefits red wine’s special anti-aging ingredient has been linked to:
- Reduced risk of blood clotting and heart disease
- Lower LDL, a.k.a. “bad,” cholesterol
- Lower occurrences of diabetes and obesity
- Improved balance and motor coordination in senior citizens
But more than just the physical health benefits, sipping a glass of wine over great conversation with friends is both relaxing and fun – enough to put anyone in a good mood! And at Grace Ridge, we’re all about good moods. So much so that we recently launched a new wellness and events program dedicated entirely to the subject.
Encompassing physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing, Good Moods features activities, programs and events designed to enhance total wellness and quality of life for our residents as well as connect them to the wonderful attractions and opportunities here in Morganton, also known as “Nature’s Playground,” from arts and culture to outdoor recreation.
On Thursday, Dec. 4, Grace Ridge will host a Good Moods Wine Tasting event featuring selections of North Carolina wines, savory hors d’oeuvres and delectable desserts. Surrounded by piano music and beautiful holiday décor, the spirit of the season will surely be in the air. We invite you to join us in our Table Rock Lounge, a roof-top solarium with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Drop by Dec. 4 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and experience a taste of retirement life in western North Carolina.
